Summer Escapism

You came on a day the scorch of the Sun
Left me out of breathe on a conclusion forgone
One summer, on a listless Monday afternoon
Of humid and thin air, seemed bound to suck
The remains of what the lungs could exude.

One summer, our paths crossed
In the sea of sweltering flesh, sweat and scent
Rolled into one pungent smell
Suddenly, the heat didn't bother me anymore
The heat only fueled the desire, submit to the glorified fire of emotion.

The pair of brown eyes I saw was never mine
Wide-eyed and pensive, picturesque adorned in fine line
And I never thought how lovely it appears in sight
As you wore them brown eyes in utmost delight.

The grey sky has beckoned, it's finally over!
My summer has burned me and left me high and dry later
But the burn only emboldened my heart, made
Me embrace life a lot warmer
For that summer of sheer bliss, I could bittersweetly leave behind
But the passion and warmth stay with me
As I trudge and brave the looming glum of the rain in stride.
